Transgenic Models updated on 2007 09 12, Wed

The role of TNF in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases is well established and well documented. Our TNF driven animal models provide a unique tool to evaluate the efficacy of therapeutics targeting TNF or other molecules implicated in the pathogenesis of immunological diseases. These transgenic models, mostly humanized (i.e created with human genes), develop chronic polyarthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, cachexia and multiple sclerosis.

Select a disease from the bar on the right or view directly the models by choosing from below.

NEW!  Tghup55TNFR (human p55 TNF receptor knockin)

This is a model harboring the human p55 TNF receptor and can be used in a variety of induced models (CIA, LPS/D-gal, Dextran Sulphate Sodium- IBD), as well as in combination with our human or mouse TNF driven spontaneous models of human diseases. It can be used to test the efficacy of candidate therapeutics targeting the human p55 TNF receptor. Can be crossed with any disease model (ie. Tg197, TNFDARE), in order to test anti-p55TNFRI antibodies/antagonists.

Tg197 (Human TNF/Arthritis)

This is the world recognized model of chronic inflammatory polyarthritis. It has been used by many pharmaceutical companies over the last 10 years, and has contributed to the success of many marketed anti TNF therapies.

Tg5453 (Human transmembrane TNF/ Arthritis)

This model is useful in assessing the transmembrane TNF activity of potential drugs which may be relevant  in understanding the range of diseases that an anti-TNF therapy can target (e.g anti TNF therapies that do not have transmembrane TNF activity do not seem to work in Crohn’s disease).

Tg1278/TNF-/- (normal regulation and secretion of human TNF)

This model is useful in assessing the anti human TNF activity of therapeutics in acute experiments (e.g LPS/D-gal). It is available in a mouse TNF knockout background.

TNFÄARE (mouse TNF- Arthritis AND Crohn's disease)

Tg211 (human TNF/ Cachexia/MOF)

TgK21 (human TNF/ Multiple sclerosis)

Tg6074 (mouse TNF/ Multiple sclerosis)
