Tg5453 (human TNF) updated on 2007 05 24, Thu

This humanized model of rheumatoid arthritis is caused T-cell deregulated expression of CD2-  transmembrane  TNF-globin  transgene construct. The disease starts to develop at 2 weeks of age and by 7 weeks of age the disease is in advanced stages ( View the article).

Tg5453 is a good and fast model of assessing effectiveness of therapeutics in rheumatoid arthritis. A number of our clients use this model, in conjunction with the Tg197 model when assessing the efficacy of their candidate therapeutic. Abgenix Biopharma has used both models for testing their antibodies (read the abstract).

Infliximab, Enrel and Adalimumab inhibit the development of the disease in this model when administered at 2 weeks of age twice weekly.
